Takara Sake USA, Inc.

Tasting Room
Fusion of Japanese and Western Space
The Tasting Room designed by architect Don Hisaka, presents a light,
airy ambiance. The interior of the structure, constructed of Douglas
Fir and granite-finished tile, fuses traditional Japanese beauty with
a contemporary sense of space. The blue glass-tiled floor design is
inspired by Japans rice paddies and reflects the name Takara,
which means treasure from the rice paddy. Emphasizing
Takaras commitment to conservation of the environment, virtually
all wood used in the structure is reclaimed lumber, while the granite
floor tiles contain glass recycled from saké, beer, whiskey
and other bottles. The kinetic sculptures consisting of the white
birds and the light gray clouds are titled Song of the Sky,
designed by artist Susumu Shingu, and the mix media on canvas, titled
Water Wave drawn by Keiko Nelson is also in the lobby.
